Mechanical and Durability Properties of Self-Compacted Concrete Incorporating Waste Crumb Rubber as Sand Replacement: A Review

چکیده

The lack of disposal facilities for waste tires from various vehicles is a major environmental and economic problem. Crumb rubber (CR) generated can be used to partially replace fine natural aggregates in self-compacted concrete (SCC), lowering sand usage protecting raw material resources. main objective this study summarize the influence CR as partial replacement on behavior SCC. For aim, 42 papers were selected out 89 that relevant study. mechanical properties, i.e., compressive strength, flexural splitting tensile modulus elasticity, bond well ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), all reduced by insertion into SCC mixtures. With addition CR, fracture energy decreases, but ductility terms characteristic length enhanced. Meanwhile, replacing with also reduce durability performance SCC, such sorptivity, free-drying shrinkage, rapid chloride permeability, depth penetration, except electrical resistivity, carbonation, impact resistance, which exhibit positive tendency. Based results reviewed articles, predicted reductions strength incorporating recommended. Moreover, studies employed develop empirical models demonstrate relations between properties.

Experimental Investigation of the Mechanical and Durability Properties of Crumb Rubber Concrete

Recycling waste tire rubber by incorporating it into concrete has become the preferred solution to dispose of waste tires. In this study, the effect of the volume content of crumb rubber and pretreatment methods on the performances of concrete was evaluated. Firstly, the fine aggregate and mixture were partly replaced by crumb rubber to produce crumb rubber concrete. Secondly, the mechanical an...

Estimation of mechanical and durability properties of self-compacting concrete with fibers using ultrasonic pulse velocity

In this research, the performance of ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) in concrete is examined as a nondestructive experiment in order to estimate mechanical (compressive and tensile strength) and durability (water absorption) properties of fiber-reinforced self-compacted concrete For this purpose 11 mixture designs containing 3 types of fibers (steel: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 percent by volume, Pol...

Experimental Study of Crumb Rubber in Concrete

Crumb rubber is a material produced by shredding and commutating used tires. Waste tire dumping, disposal of these materials or burning these tires cause serious health and environmental problems. On the other side the traffic intensity also increasing day by day and thus bearing capacities also increased the long term goal of the work is to find a means to dispose of the crumb rubber in concre...

Concrete with Crumb Rubber from Used Tyres

This study aims to determine the influence of the substitution of a variable volume of aggregates on a concrete by an equivalent quantity of crumb rubber (CR) obtained from used tyres. The physical and mechanical properties of different concretes, which were developed through laboratory tests, have been studied for this goal. The experimental method employed is based on the production of a refe...
